A Marriage Redefined Ch. 01

Chapter 1: A Walk in the Woods.

As part of our holiday vacation my wife Diana and I arranged to stay at a quiet mountain resort in Virginia. We hoped to recharge ourselves and enjoy the air and the rustic scenery, perhaps include a hike or a horseback ride. On the drive out Diana mentioned that I seemed to be letting myself go a bit lately and maybe I could use the next few days to get back in better shape. I couldn't really disagree with her comments because I knew I wasn't anywhere close to her physical condition. She is slim but strong and always looks great. I was determined to make the most of this break from our hectic work/family routine and shed a few pounds. I manage a specialized library and Diana runs her own business. While my salary is adequate she is really the major income producer.

The charming horsy quality of the inn surprised me; the whole place was decked out with the paraphernalia that you associate with fox hunting. Photographs of champions, silver cups, redcoats and brass horns adorned the walls. There was no shortage of caps, boots, spurs, or crops either. Neither of us is particularly involved in hunting or horseback riding, but as I say, the place had its charm. The owner was an attractive if slightly masculine Englishwoman named Claire. She showed us around the hotel and introduced us to the chef, Agnes; the Concierge, Bonnie; the Stable master Renee and the other senior staff. I asked if there were any men on the staff and Claire said "of course! We have waiters, custodians, stable boys and many others but, yes, women are in charge here." I think I noted an expression of satisfaction on Diana's face at this comment. I could see too that she was pleased with the accommodations.

We got to the room and I unpacked our bags while Diana freshened up.

Dressed in leather boots and dark hose with a long black skirt a cashmere cardigan over a silk blouse with elegant bulgari scarf around her neck she looked to be the epitome sophistication and propriety. Her black hair was cut stylishly short emphasizing her glistening dark eyes and moist red lips. Once again I was captivated.

"We are going for a walk," she announced

While I was much less elegant in my corduroys and flannel shirt, I was happy to oblige.

It was a warm October afternoon and the leaves were just beginning to change. L. set the pace for a brisk walk, and I followed just a few steps behind. After 2 miles I thought we might think of slowing down or turning back but Diana declined saying "I'm going to take you places you've never been before." A sexy smile crossed her face. We went deeper into the woods. We chatted for another mile or so and then the terrain grew steeper. Diana stopped abruptly on a rocky slope and turned around to look down at me.

"I want to talk to you about something that has been developing for some time now. I know you like to please me if you can and sometimes you do. Would you agree that I am the driving force in this relationship?"

I nodded uncertainly.

"Good." She rubbed her hand on my chest as she said this. My nipples became erect.

"Now it is time that we acknowledged our positions in this marriage, don't you agree?

I didn't really understand what she was getting at but I didn't object.

"I earn $250,000 a year that, along with my inheritance, allows us comforts like weekends at country inns. You are earning $42,000." She continued.

I had to agree with that, the numbers were irrefutable.

"Without me you would still be a graduate student or maybe a clerk at Barnes
